The fish quality control workshop was held under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Yaqoub bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries wealth on February 20, 2024, at the Central Laboratory for Phytosanitary and Food Safety in Al-Rumais, which we manage and operate. With the participation of members from entities such as the MAFWR, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Consumer Protection Authority, Sultan Qaboos University and a number of fish companies and factories.
The workshop included a visit to the Central Laboratory for Phytosanitary and Food Safety and a review of the laboratories and analyses available according to the latest equipment and capabilities inside the laboratories. Along with a number of lectures from the Fish Quality Control Center and Sultan Qaboos University, and finally, a discussion of challenges and proposals across several axes, including regulations, quality, safety and analyses.
