The genuine belief by our government in the importance of assuring quality in all agriculture products and assuring food safety was reflected in the initi- ation of the Central Laboratory of Plant Phytosanitary and Food Safety. This lab is a major project of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth, and Wa- ter Resources. To ensure efficient and full setup and operation, MAFWR mov- ed to partner with the private sector and tendered the lab for management and operation. It is therefore that today we stand operating this lab putting our utmost efforts towards a significant and valuable project.

United Integrated Laboratories continue to progress, playing a major role in food safety and assuring quality in agricultural and food products. We do, ho- wever, understand that this role can only be achieved successfully if we work hand in hand with both our government (represented through MAFWR) and consumers. The government is the role player in establishing and implemen- ting the right quality and safety measures, whilst the consumers also play their part by voicing towards better quality of products and food safety.
